"Purchased this machine when it first came on the market. I have been sewing everything on this machine including quilts with absolutely no issues at all. I started teaching my granddaughters how to sew this summer and contemplated bringing out my older machine for the sake of ease and simplicity but decided that the JUKI wouldn't overwhelm them. I was right! My ten year granddaughter even threads the machine and fills the bobbins. She loves this machine. I promised to purchase her first sewing machine and now I have to figure out how to "sell her" on a machine that's not too expensive. I might have to purchase anther one just for her."

Automatic Thread Trimmer.
The machine is equipped with an automatic thread trimmer. It simulaneously trims the needle and bobbin threads at the sewing end. A light press of the push-button is all it takes. It uses the thread trimming mechanism.
Even Feed Foot.
The even feed foot has a reliable feed. It ensures beautiful seams when sewing difficult-to-feed fabrics such as georgette and velvets. It also works well with heavy weight materials such as leather.
Sew Heavy Weight Materials With Ease.

Predetermined Needle Stop Position.
When you stop sewing, the machine comes to an accurate stop with the needle down. To move the needle up or down, simply press the needle up / down button.
Two Types of Quilting Foot / Drop Feed.
The quilting feet are designed for free motion quilting and free-hand embroidery. The feed dog can be raised and lowered simply by pressing a switch. When quilting, the drop feed allows you to sew curved stitches with ease.
Knee Lifter Lever.
The knee lifter lever lifts / lowers the presser foot without using your hands. The presser foot can be raised as high as 12mm.

Foot Pedal Switch for Thread Trimming.
Like an industrial sewing machine, the thread trimmer can be activated with the foot pedal switch. It greatly increases sewing efficiency.
Automatic Needle Threader.
The push lever automatic needle threader threads the needle with ease and without eyestrain. This means you can start sewing quicker!
Thread Tension Scale.
The TL-98Q is provided with the thread tension scale. You can adjust the tension to match the needs of the thread and material used.
Easy Bobbin Replacement.
A new bobbin case latch and an enlarged bobbin case area make it easier to remove and replace the bobbin.
Adjustment of Presser Foot Pressure.
Presser foot pressure can be adjusted for the fabric being sewn by turning a regulator located on the top of the machine.

I love, love, love this machine!! I purchased this machine around the end of 2009. It is still going strong! I love the speed and control of this machine. And the foot control with the thread cutter is fabulous! I can go from one piece of fabric to the next without ever having to touch my thread snippers! The knee lifter is another feature I couldn't live without, as well as the needle up/needle down feature. I sew my own clothing and this machine's speed helps me accomplish so much more in a short amount of time. It's easy to oil and thread, although I cannot figure out the auto-threader. For years I wanted an industrial machine because of the speed, but didn't want the motor noise they produce and didn't know if anyone could carry it upstairs to my sewing room. Then there was maintenance issue; who would come to my house if I had a problem with it? This machine can easily go to the repair shop if needed. But I've never had a problem with it. It arrived packed nicely in the box. I like the large table that came with it as well. The machine is very well made and sews beautifully. I have two other Swiss machines (beginning with "B") and they don't compare to the strength of my Juki - and they cost much, much more. In fact, the computerized one is packed away in the closet. This is a fantastic machine at a very good price.

I got this machine with a Grace Pinnacle quilt frame. The delivery was very fast. Before I put it on the frame, I pieced a quilt with it. The quilting went really well. The machine is fast!
Sometimes I have a little trouble getting the tension set right. It seems I have to check it every day.
As another reviewer said, the needle threader doesn't work very well. Juki needs to send that part back to the designers. The needle threader on my Kenmore works easily without problems. I don't know why Juki can't do better with this part.
The perfect machine for me.

I wanted a sturdy, mechanical machine with a large work space. Imagine how delighted I am at the extra convenient features of the presser foot knee lever and the automatic thread cutter. No more pulling the threads back and holding them in place to prevent a thread jam.

I love this machine. It is great for machine quilting and everyday sewing. Nice big opening for a bulky quilt to fit through. The stitches are beautiful.
My machine arrived without the extra bobbins. I called and they were sent immediately.
The only thing that I am not crazy about with this machine is the automatic needle threader. I just can't get it to work well, it is easier for me to thread the needle myself.

I have been sewing most of my life and have used all sorts of machines/brands. This machine has been a dream. It is quick, smooth, easy. I initially purchased it for free motion quilting and am finding that I'm using it for most of my sewing. By the way, the dealer was wonderful to work with.

I bought this machine over a year ago, and it has been fabulous. No problem, and has been everything I've needed it for. I quilt, not fancy stuff, but also like to be able to do free-motion. It has a great, even, and very fast straight stitch, and the extra room has made the free-motion really doable. I love the extra features - such as the needleup-needle-down, the thread cutter, which is a God-send, and the bobbin that winds while you sew. Also the walking foot comes with it, along with all the feet you really need for quilting and free-motion. The foot control is very responsive. On another note, this dealer is for real. I know their pricing seems way "too good" and that they have free shipping is amazing, but the machine arrived on time, in perfect condition, and this is a straightforward, honest dealer that isn't going to try to sell you more.
