I bought this machine about 5 years ago with the 6500. What sold me was making embroidered quilt blocks to put on the back of my quilts. I surprised myself by using this machine more than the 6500 at first for making gifts such as personalized aprons, towels, etc. I was still working at the time and could finish a project in an evening. This machine has given me lots of enjoyment, and there are still things I haven't learned to do with it. I now use both machines a lot, and have recently purchased the AQS2009 to take to classes. A repairman told me people keep their Janome machines because they last.
