The knife edge gives these shears the capability of cutting through multiple layers of fabric effortlessly while the bent handles design allows for smooth cutting on a tabletop or counter. This pattern is popular for cutting out patterns in sewing and quilting. The 8 inch model pictured here features a longer cut, making it excellent for cutting out fabric patterns and trimming seams. This item can be kept sharp by using the G-S sharpening stone.
I bought these scissors on the advice of the salesperson at my local quilt shop. They were replacing my 30 year old Singer scissors. I Love them. They cut straight with no pulling on the fabric. They have a nice heft to them so you know they are quality made, but not too heavy.

These are the best scissors I have ever used...hands down. I bought my first pair, which is also the ones I am still using, in 1983 when I was working in a fabric shop in California. There were a number of brands to choose from. I am so glad I chose these. I use them for cutting out patterns and for cutting quilt pieces. I have never had to sharpen them. They are as sharp as the day I bought them. Would I recommend them to a friend....you bet I would! They are fantastic.

These shears are the best! Over the years, I have tried many others, but none holds its sharpness all the way to the points the way Ginghers do. The two blades have different functions. One is a knife-edge which does the actual cutting, while the other acts as a "platform" (for lack of a better word) to hold the fabric in place as it is being cut. The sheath protects the cutting blade and the points if the scissors are accidentally dropped.
