About Instructor Julie Fei-Fan Balzer

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is a mixed media painter, collage maker, and avid memory keeper. She is also an author, blogger, TV personality, and teacher. Julie is the host of Scrapbook Soup TV (PBS) and has appeared several times on Quilting Arts TV (PBS) and hosted the “Artist to Artist” segment on Scrapbook Memories TV (PBS). Julie has also appeared on Crafting at The Spotted Canary (PBS). You can catch her every now and then on HSN (Home Shopping Network).

Julie’s hour-long instructional DVD “Collage Fast & Furious” was released in July 2010 by Interweave. She released two more hour-long instructional DVDs in 2012: All About Faces and Stamp-Making Adventures. Two more in 2013: Layering with Stencils and Creating On The Go. And one more in 2014: Working in a Series: Making Better Art. Julie's book Carve Stamp Play was released by Interweave Press in December 2013.

Julie has had artwork and articles published in many magazines including Cloth Paper Scissors, CPS Pages, CPS Studios, I {Heart} Paper, Quilting Arts Gifts, Quilt Scene, Creating Keepsakes, Better Homes & Gardens’ Scrapbooks Etc., Memory Makers, Scrapbook Trends, Somerset Memories, Somerset Digital, scrapbooking m.m. (Sweden), Scrap Art Zine (Germany), Scrapbooking & Beyond, Simple Scrapbooks, Histoires de Pages (France), books by Leisure Arts, F&W Publications, and Lark, as well as multiple e-zines.

Julie designs stencils for The Crafter's Workshop, stamps for Art Foamies and Impression Obsession, and has several other products in the works with other companies. She also consults on product development. She is proud to be the spokesperson for the Brother ScanNCut. Julie hosts the bi-monthly "Adventures in Arting Podcast" along with her Mother, Eileen Hsü-Balzer. Julie lives outside of Boston, MA. She is a graduate of Brown University.

Do you own a Brother Scan N Cut? If the answer is yes, then please join Julie for this one-day Scan-N-Cut owners event. This one-day hands-on workshop has been designed to teach you all the skills you need to get the most out of your Scan-N-Cut. Over the course of the day, you will create three stellar projects. Each project is designed, not only to be beautiful but to teach you some very unique Scan-N-Cut skills. You will learn all about scanning and how to use the AutoBlade. You’ll learn about the pen tool and options you have for drawing and filling. You will be working with cut files from the built-in designs, custom cut files from Julie, and you will be creating your own unique designs! You will learn all about the built-in editing functions of the Scan-N-Cut while creating beautiful customized artwork. You will be working with fabric, paper, and vinyl. It’s one day packed with hands-on learning! You will walk away with three finished projects and all the knowledge you need to get the most out of your Scan-N-Cut.

A. Yes, you will need to bring your own Scan-N-Cut or you can buy one at the event. Machines will not be provided.

Q. What kind of food will be served for lunch each day?
A. We try to have a variety of food, however if you have any dietary needs for food allergies we suggest you make your own food arrangments

Q. What will the room temperature be at the event?
A. We try to maintain a good temperature in the room but we suggest bringing a light sweater in case the room gets cold.

Q. Will there be time for shopping?
A. Yes, there will be several breaks throughout the day that will give you time to shop.

Q. Will you have Scan-N-Cut accessories available to purchase at the event?
A. Yes, we will have a full line of accessories available at the event?

Q. Are you going to have any give-a-ways and discounts?
A. Yes, we will have many specials and give-a-ways. 

Q. Where do we park?
A. We have plenty of parking in our private parking lot beside our store.

Q. Can I sit with my friend?
A. We will try an accommodate any seating request but cannot guarantee it.
