I am in love with my new Singer 7470. I received my machine a week ago Friday, and have been sewing my little heart out.
I used the button maker a few days ago and it's easy breezy...this machine sews beautifully. The easy threader attachment is a bonus too... my eyes is not what they use to be... can't half see the needle. But the threader gets it done in no time.

I have owned this machine for 4 years - worked up from basic Singers. This machine has provided me with all my needs, from basics to designing trims. The button hole maker (4 kinds) works great & it also threads a needle with no problems. I have seen upgraded versions but am pleased to stay wiith this model.

I just bought this machine a short time ago. So far, I really like it. There are a few things that take some getting used to, but overall, I really like how it operates.
Here are the things that I find a little annoying: when you are sewing, if you stop to adjust something, you have to lift your foot completely off the pedal before you continue. It's like it needs to reset before you can continue.
Also, I found the automatic buttonhole attachment to be kind of a pain. I had a Kenmore with a fantastic buttonhole attachment, so I am just spoiled I guess.
One thing I really wish is that the 5/8 marking would extend into the bobbin cover like the 1/4 mark does. The markings are a bit hard to distinguish, so an extra line would have been helpful.
Other than those things, I find this machine to be very good.

I agree with the other reviewers. The auto tension is fantastic. I hardly use pins any more as the feed is so even. Speed control is very good. I like everything about this machine.
I do mainly quilting. Some applique and have tried out several of the built-in stitches and those work well too.

Auto tension! I love it. It has worked every time. The bobbin is so easy you just drop it in right on the top. I will never go back to my old Touch & Sew. This machine is a very easy to use machine if you want to change a stitch you just push the button of the stitch you want. This singer 7470 has many choices of decorative stitches for embellishing items with embroidery. So far, no issues and the stitches look perfect.
I am so glad the young man from your company suggested this machine for me. He also stated that I could receive free phone lesions. The machine is so easy to use I don’t think I’ll ever have to use them.
