How do you make the pine branches? That's the million dollar question. Embroidery. That's how. I'm no embroidery expert at all, so I sort of used the back stitch and really long stitches. See, even my description is less than . . . eloquent. The pattern gives you diagrams and much better directions. Don't forget the pine cone button pack!

Finished Project Dimensions

• 6" x 22"

Materials Needed

• 1/8 yard - dark-print for background
• 1/8 yard - dark print for border
• 1/8 yard - dark print for binding

Scraps of Fabric

• 3" x 5" - dull-red (female body)
• 5" x 5" - dark-red (wings and tail)
• 4" x 7" - bright-red (male body)
• 8" x 24" - strip of backing fabric
• 7" x 23" - scrap of thin batting
• Fusible webbing (lightweight)
• Embroidery floss - yellow, dark-brown, 2 different greens
