Tandem Air Technology - All uprights on the market use either a bypass design motor or a direct air design motor.  A bypass design motor provides superior tool suction, but only adequate floor suction.  A direct air motor provides superior floor suction and hardly any tool suction.  So which is better?  An upright that uses both!  Riccar uprights using Tandem Air Technology have a direct air motor at the surface for superior floor cleaning AND a bypass design motor up top for outstanding tool suction.
